So here we go for week one:
Note: I did go to the store for meat, fresh produce, milk, etc. but canned goods, seasonings, frozen veggies....all have to come from our pantry/freezer/fridge.
Friday: Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza using the dough that I had in the freezer and is now rising in the kitchen window, sausage and pepperoni from freezer and leftover cheese from last week. Samuel will eat applesauce and green beans with his and we'll have a green salad and a fruit salad.
Saturday: Easy to Do Oven BBQ chicken, rolls, acorn squash, fruit (or green beans and applesauce if you're Samuel)
Sunday: Black bean and cheese burritos, chips and salsa, fruit
Monday: Best cranberry chicken, acorn squash, rolls
Tuesday: Homemade chicken and rice (using leftover chicken from last week and rice in the pantry), fruit salad, rolls
Wednesday: Broccoli cheese soup(the cheese and broccoli were on sale last week so they were already in the fridge) in a bread bowl, fruit salad (chicken and rice leftovers for Samuel)
Thursday: Leftover BBQ chicken and whatever veggies and fruit we have left, rolls
I roasted a chicken last week so I've got broth simmering on the stove and I had a bag of cranberries in the freezer so I just made cranberry sauce for the cranberry chicken. I also just found some okra so I might throw that in there somewhere. I made rolls last week because I thought I needed to send them to Mike's office for a luncheon but I didn't so we've got rolls for about a month. Now for the next few weeks I need to find recipes using green peppers and sweet potatotes because I seem to have an abundance of those. I've also got a big bottle of apple cider vinegar--anyone have any good ideas for that? My goal for the rest of January and February is to spend $40 a week on "Wal-mart" items by using up what I already have. No reason really, I just want to see if I can do it.
Now just so you don't get Samuel withdrawals
- He woke up with a runny nose...boo...it hasn't slowed him down yet though, the knees of my pants are a little crusty but that's the only difference I've noticed.
- The sippy cup is mastered he just needs to learn to tip it up by himself and we're good to go.
- He learned to give kisses! He's quite generous with those open-mouthed, on the lips beauties--you better make sure you keep your mouth shut or you might get a little surprise. (Which probably means that I too will have a runny nose tomorrow) I must say it's totally worth it and he's quite proud of himself.
That's all have a lovely weekend, folks!
