5 Months

Dear Molly,

Today you are 5 months old!  I think it’s safe to say that you have changed more this month than in all the previous months combined.  You seem to have found your personality and love to smile and flirt with people to get them to talk to you. And hair, oh my, you have grown so much hair!  It multiplies every day and is blonde and fuzzy on top.  Very cute.  You have such a sweet little disposition and still love to be snuggled and held more than anything.

As sweet and easy going as you are,  there are a few things that MUST go your way!  When  you’re hungry you want to eat, RIGHT THEN and  when you’re tired you want to be put in bed.  There is no rocking or consoling, just wrap you up tight and put you down.  You promptly turn your head to the left, pop your left thumb in your mouth with the other 4 fingers covering your nose and face and you’re asleep within seconds.  It’s amazing really.  I’ve never seen a baby quite like it.  But keep it up, my friend!  You’re almost always done for the day around 7 pm and it’s best if we don’t try to fight it. So most of the time we don’t. We just give you a bath and put you out of your misery.  We don’t hear from you again until 7:30 or 8 the next day!  Such a good little sleeper.

Some might call you lazy but I like to think of it as…content.  You have yet to roll over which is completely different from your brother who was rolling all over the house at this age.  But you’ll move when you’re ready. So for now we’ll just enjoy these days of staying put.  You are, however, getting squirmy and can scoot all over your blanket.  You’re starting to enjoy toys and anything you can get your hands on goes straight in your mouth.  Papa’s thumb is a favorite!

You average about 5 bibs a day and 2-3 outfits. You’re in a size 2 diaper but we’ll be moving to a three very soon.  Let’s just say that you really enjoy meal time!  You started cereal this month and have mastered eating with a spoon. You still spit up with the best of them.  We’ve put our mark on every floor in town, including Belk and Chick-Fil-A.   On top of that you are quite the slobber queen, thus the 5 bibs a day.

You are such a delight and a wonderful addition to our family.  We’re looking forward to watching you grow into a lovely young lady!
